Overview
GL2 wrote custom scanning software for a client and they needed a backup solution to archive their documents in a very granular and specific way. We helped the client research off-the-shelf solutions that were available and they did not offer the features the customer needed.
The solution GL2 wrote archives specific types of files according to a specific schedule. Some documents are only archived when they have been marked to archive in a SQL Server database. Some documents are archived after a specified period of time. and other documents are archived manually.

This solution consists of two components and an installation program:
- Custom Windows Service
- Scan Backup Control Panel Application
- Installation Software
Development Cycle
This application took approximately five weeks to write, test, and then move into production. The software has been backing up our client's files everyday since November 2005.
